Description
Charlton House is an early 18th-century building of two storeys and five windows, originally the residence of a brewer associated with a former brewery situated nearby. The house is constructed of red brick with a string course and an eaves bracket cornice. It has a Horsham slab roof. A modern five-light bay window has been added to the ground floor, south of the doorway. The original glazing bars remain largely intact. The doorway features fluted columns with capitals carved as roses and plumes, a curved pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panel door with the top two panels glazed, leading up seven steps with an iron handrail. The garden is enclosed to the north-east by a contemporary low brick wall upon which stands an iron railing and gate.
