Description

Mockbridge House is a T-shaped house located on London Road in Henfield, dating from the 18th century. The main portion of the house is two storeys high and features four windows. It is finished in stucco and has an eaves cornice, with a hipped roof covered in Horsham slabs. The windows have Venetian shutters and intact glazing bars. The entrance includes a doorway with pilasters and a tent-shaped hood supported by brackets. Notably, the small T-wing at the back is timber-framed. Margaret Fairless Dawson, who wrote "The Road-mender" under the name of Michael Fairless, lived in this house and passed away there in 1901.
