Description

The Stane Street Cottages form an L-shaped block of mid-19th century origin, located on Adversane Stane Street in Billingshurst. The southern wing, comprising numbers one to six, is a single storey with an attic, and features seven windows and eight dormers. It is constructed of ashlar and has a Mansard tiled roof, with casement windows and doorways sheltered by gabled hoods supported on brackets. The eastern wing, numbers seven and eight, was likely added later and is two storeys high, with four windows. This section is built of red brick with grey headers, and has tiled roofs and casement windows. The cottages are included in the listing primarily for their group value.
