Description
The Roundhouse, located in the grounds of the Old Rectory, is a building from the 18th century or earlier. Although it is now used as a separate dwelling, it was originally the cottage for the Verderer of Wiston Park. Positioned on a rise, it offers a good view over the park. This small two-storey building features an elliptical front with a rectory portion at the back. The ground floor is made of white brick and has two central windows flanked by shallow niches. The first floor is set back within the ground floor's space and has a roof made of Horsham slabs that slopes up to the first floor, which is tile-hung and has one window along with a polygonal pointed metal roof, with Horsham slabs behind it. There is a round-headed doorway on the east side, and modern additions have been made to the rear. Inside, there is a cottage cupboard-staircase.
