Description

Grants Farmhouse is a 17th-century or earlier timber-framed house that has been altered over time. The ground floor is faced with red brick, while the upper floor is tile-hung, although some original timbering is visible at the rear on the ground floor. The roof is tiled, with a gable at the western end of the front elevation. The house has two storeys and three windows. Dendrochronological dating, carried out in 2020, suggests that timbers may have been felled around 1560, indicating a possible origin in the later 16th century as a two-and-a-half smoke bay building; this would make it one of only four tree-ring dated buildings in West Sussex.
