Description

The Parish Church of St Mary is a Grade I listed building located on the west side of Church Street in West Chiltington. The church features a chancel with a south chapel, a nave with a south aisle, a central bell-turret topped with a spire, and a north porch. The walls of the chancel and nave date back to the late 11th century, while the aisle was added in the late 12th century. A king-post roof, which is dated 1602, was installed at the same time the broached shingled spire was added. The exterior is covered with a Horsham slab roof. Inside, there are mural paintings from the 12th and 14th centuries.
