Description
The Old Rectory is an early 19th-century residence located on Rectory Lane in Ifield. This two-storey building features stucco faced walls and a low pitched Welsh slate roof with deep projecting eaves supported by paired brackets. The east front has a recessed center flanked by shallow wings, each topped with low-pitched triangular gables. There are five sash windows with glazing bars, and a Doric porch with a pair of columns in antis. On the west side, the building has two shallow wings with hipped roofs, and there is a conservatory on the south side. To the north, there are considerable office buildings. The rectory was likely built or rebuilt by Reverend Spencer James Lewin, who served as the Vicar of Ifield from 1790 to 1842 and was also the Rector of Crawley.
