Description
11 Eastgate Square is an 18th-century building featuring three storeys and five window bays, constructed of red brick. It has a tiled hipped roof and a small cornice with modillions located below the eaves. The building has sash windows set in reveals with flat arches, and the windows have rubbed brick voussoirs, although the glazing bars are missing. The second floor has smaller windows, one of which is blocked, and there are window blinds present. The doorway is adorned with Doric columns and a pediment, topped by a semi-circular fanlight that has modern stained glass inserted. To the right of the window, there is a modern shop front. A plaque situated between the first and second floors notes that this house is where John Keats began writing "The Eve of St Agnes" in 1819. The buildings numbered 10 to 12, which are adjacent, form a group with this property.
