Description
Nos 21 and 21A on Tarrant Street are buildings dating from the 16th or 17th century. They feature a timber-framed structure with a painted brick front on the ground floor, while the first floor is stuccoed and the south elevation is rendered. The buildings have a pitched tile roof with overhanging eaves and stand two storeys tall, with the first floor jettied.
On the ground floor, there is one door, one plate glass window, one casement window with glazing bars, and a 19th-century shop front that includes a partly glazed door and shop windows with glazing bars that are hinged at the top. An iron rail is provided for hanging game. The first floor contains four casement windows with glazing bars, two of which are from the early 19th century and two from the late 19th century. There is also a two-storey extension at the rear.
