Description
Stenton House is a 17th-century timber-framed building located on the west side of High Street. The first floor is constructed of brick and features a pitched slate roof. Historical drawings show the house as it appeared around 1820-1830, with a third storey and a shallower pitched roof. The building has two storeys, with the first floor jettied, although the bressummer is obscured by a fascia board. It includes a moulded wooden eaves cornice and a modern shop front on the ground floor. On the first floor, there are two flush-framed windows with moulded embrasures, fitted with modern casements that have glazing bars. To the west, there are two- and three-storey extensions, all rendered. Stenton House is part of a group with Nos 27 to 33 and Nos 37 to 43 on the street.
