Description
Shaftowes is a cottage dating from the 17th century, with a right-side extension added in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame, which is clad in brown brick at the lower level and tile hung above. The gable end has a sandstone block on a brick plinth, with ironstone galleting. The brick extensions have plain tiled roofs, hipped to the right. The cottage is two storeys high, with a gable end facing the street and a single storey on the extension. There is a stack on the gable end and another stack at the rear. The front has one window on the first floor of the right-hand return and one window on the ground floor. A part-glazed door is located in the pentice end of the rear extension. Additionally, there are two windows on both the first and ground floors, along with one plank door positioned to the left of centre. The frame is exposed inside.
