Description

Upper Sydenhurst is a house dating largely to the 17th century, with significant extensions built in the 19th century and the 1930s. It is constructed with a timber frame and has a brick and tile-hung exterior, featuring plain tile roofs and a large multiple ridge stack. The original 17th-century section is located to the rear, with 19th-century additions to the right and 20th-century wings to the front. The house is two storeys high, with diamond-pane leaded casement windows – six across the first floor. It has two doors: a glazed door on the left and a planked door on the right, both sheltered by pent roofs supported on brackets. The interior reveals deep brick fireplaces and exposed timber framing in the ground floor rooms.
