Description

The garden wall and well, located to the east of Orchards, was built around 1900 by Gertrude Jekyll and Lady Chance. It is constructed from sandstone blocks and features tile coping, with tile-on-edge detailing in the central grotto. The wall measures approximately 15 metres in length and 2 metres in height. At the center, there is a three-bay grotto with an elliptical concave rear wall and square piers at the front. A round bowl, which projects to the center, is inlaid with tiles. Additionally, there is a bronze well adorned with a lion's head, created by Lady Chance.
