Description
The Old Rectory is a house dating from around 1700, with 19th-century additions to the rear. It is constructed of brown and blue brick with red brick dressings, featuring a wooden modillion eaves cornice and a plain tiled roof, topped with end ridge stacks. The house has a basement and two storeys, with three dormers in the attic, each featuring a pedimented glazing bar sash window. A very steep central pediment adorns the front. Brick piers mark the ends, and a plat band runs over the ground floor. The building has seven bays, with glazing bar sash windows in alternate bays on the first floor, and sash windows with gauged heads on the ground floor. A central, rendered porch from the 19th century has a flat roof and an arched entrance leading to a four-panel door with glazed upper sections. A lower parallel range extends across the rear of the property, with tile hanging on the first floor. A two-story angle bay is present on the right hand return front.
