Description
Felbridge Copse is a building originally constructed as stables, later serving as a lodge, and then converted into a private house. It was built in 1916 by Sir Edwin Lutyens and is one of a pair of service buildings. The main house, Felbridge Place, was designed but never built. The building is in a classical style reminiscent of Soane's barns 'a la Paestum'. It is made of sandstone blocks and features a hipped Horsham stone slate roof with a sandstone chimneystack. The structure is L-shaped and consists of one storey with four windows on the front. The windows are wooden casements with leaded lights. The front of the building includes a portico supported by six Tuscan columns.
