Description

Park Farm House is a farmhouse dating to circa 1916, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and likely conceived as part of his plans for Felbridge Place, though only the kennels and stables were ultimately built as part of that larger scheme. The building is in a Vernacular Revival style and constructed of brown brick in English bond, with a tiled roof; the roof is hipped over projecting wings and swept low to the centre, featuring a large, panelled brick chimney stack. The house is two stories high, except for the central section. It has five windows across the front. The central section features a continuous five-light casement window and a doorcase with pilasters and a flat wooden weather hood. The wings have two casement windows each. The rear elevation mirrors the front, but includes a central loggia supported by brick piers, and a hipped dormer. Inside, a fine staircase hall is built around the large central chimney stack; the staircase features stick balusters and an incorporated gallery. The interior also includes two-panelled doors.
