Description

Dial House is a house dating from around 1720. It is constructed of red brick with grey brick headers, and has a plain tiled roof with raised gable ends finished with bricks on edge. The building has a rendered plinth and a plat band above the ground floor, breaking upwards to the right of centre over the former entrance. There is a wooden eaves cornice with modillion details, and end ridge stacks positioned to the right and left of centre. The front of the house is regular, with four bays, and features three sixteen-pane sash windows on each floor, all with gauged brick heads. A blocked and rendered window sits on the first floor to the right of centre, bearing an incised sundial. The main entrance is now located on the right-hand return front of a lower wing to the right. The entrance features a six-panel door, with the top two panels glazed, set within a moulded surround, flanked by pseudo-pilasters, and topped with a dentilled open gable hood supported by scroll brackets.
