Description
The Coverts is a mid-18th century square pavilion type house located on Abbey Drive in Laleham. It is two storeys high and features battlements. The building is constructed of brick with gauged brick flat arches and has a double hipped roof covered in valley tiles. There are two brick chimneys and a parapet wall at the front topped with flat stone coping.
The façade includes three glazing bar sash windows and two segment-headed recesses in the basement, which have porthole windows. Above the doorway, there is a Sun Fire Insurance tablet. The entrance features a central Doric doorcase with steps leading up to a panelled door that is raised and fielded, along with the soffit and reveals of the doorcase. A string course runs above the ground and first floors, and there are two window returns with conical rainwater heads located in the centre of the parapets.
