Description
Nos 57 and 59 on Church Street in Staines are buildings dating from 1737 and later in the 18th century. They are two and three storeys tall and have been restored. The buildings are constructed of buff brick and feature a coped parapet. Each building has two windows, with glazing bar sashes. The two left-hand windows have gauged brick flat arches, as does the left-hand window of the right-hand section. There is an angled full-height bay on the right side. The door is located to the right of centre and has a rebated arch with a fanlight above and a six-panel door. To the right, there is a single-storey, one-window wing, and to the left, there is a modern two-window wing. Historical records indicate that in 1797, one room was being used as the Ashby Family Bank.
