Description

Brook Cottage is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, with a further bay added slightly later. It has two storeys, built of red brick with a parapet front, and features stone cap and ball finials at the corners. The slate roof has two chimneys; the right-hand chimney has a stepped design with tumbling-in. The front of the building has one window on the left and three on the right. The first-floor windows have cambered heads and flush framed glazing bar sashes. The outer windows are tripartite, with arched head glazing to the side lights. A six-panel door is fitted, with glazed upper panels. Above the door is a moulded hood supported on shaped brackets with guttae stops. A two-storey, single-window wing, gabled and built in the late 19th century, is set back to the right. At the rear, a trelliswork porch occupies the centre. A mid-19th century boundary wall and cast iron railings run along the street.
