Description
This is a barn located at Dene Farm, approximately 50 metres south of the farmhouse. It dates from the late 17th century or early 18th century and is constructed with a timber frame, clad in weatherboarding and set on a brick plinth, topped with a renewed tiled roof. The barn consists of four bays and features double cart doors in the third bay. The wall frame includes a midrail and some diagonal braces. The roof is supported by through purlins, angled queen struts, and a collar beam. A 19th-century pine floor has been inserted in the second two bays. The west end wall and one bay of the north wall contain 19th-century brickwork in Sussex bond. The barn displays a good series of carpenter's marks. A cattle shed to the north is not included in this listing.
