Description

This property comprises a late 18th- and early 19th-century facade applied to an earlier timber-framed building, located on the north-west side of High Street. It stands three storeys high and features five windows. The roof is double-hipped and covered with old tiles. The building is stuccoed, with stucco panelling framing the windows and separating the floors. A decorative band runs above the second storey, topped by a parapet. Recessed panels are present on either side of each window on the upper two floors, as well as between the first and second storeys. The windows of numbers 41 and 43 retain their original glazing bars on the second floor; numbers 45 and 47 have two-light casement windows of a similar size. Modern shop fronts are located on the ground floor. The property forms a group with numbers 29 and 31, and numbers 37 to 47 (odd) together with numbers 51 and 53. A photograph of the building is held in the National Monuments Record.
