Description
This is an 18th-century building comprising two properties, 51 and 53 High Street. It is three storeys high with a three-window front, and is faced with rough-cast render. A modillion eaves cornice runs along the top of the building. The roof is tiled and modern. The ground floor features a modern shop front and a carriage arch. The original glazing bars are preserved only on the windows of the second floor. A photograph of the building is held in the National Monuments Record. The building’s rear includes a long, narrow yard. It is believed the building may have once functioned as a public house. It forms a group with numbers 29 and 31, and numbers 37 to 47 (the odd numbers).
