Description

This is a timber-framed building, likely dating from the 16th century or earlier. It was formerly the Gun Public House. The original structure features a first floor that overhangs on a bressumer. The ground floor has been rebuilt in painted brick and the upper portion is faced with roughcast. A gable is present. The roof is tiled. Casement windows are visible. The building is two storeys high with a single window on the front elevation. A ground floor addition exists to the north. Behind the building, in the yard, the north front exhibits three windows. The central bay includes a gable supported by brackets carved with a sunflower motif. Above this is an overhanging square oriel bay window with three sides, which itself rests on brackets each carved with a lion's head. Photographs of the building are held in the NMR archive.
