Description
No 1 on West Street is an early to mid 19th century building constructed of painted brick. It stands three storeys tall and features two windows. In the attic storey, there are two-light casement windows set in reveals, with hexagonal and small diamond-shaped panes. The first storey has two-light casements in slightly segmental arches. The ground floor is occupied by an attractive 19th century shop front that includes pointed arches for the windows. There is a doorway with a fanlight above it, and the door also has a pointed arch. This building is included for its group value with Nos 1 to 7, which form a cohesive group. A photograph of the building is available in the National Monuments Record.
