Description
Nos 50 to 52 on West Street are an early to mid 19th century front added to an 18th century building. The structure is finished in stucco. The western part of the building has three storeys, while the eastern part has two storeys and an attic. The eastern section features later 19th century sash windows set in reveals without glazing bars, with three narrow sash windows separated by mullions in each bay, and a keystone above. There is a centrally placed oval-shaped recess with a keystone on the first floor, and a small circular recess on the floor above, along with a band separating the first and second floors. The western part includes one three-light sash window on the first floor, which has an architrave, frieze, and a flat-topped cornice above it, as well as one sash window on the second storey. The entrance features a six-panel door (some fielded) with an architrave and a flat-topped cornice on consoles above. There are two steps with a handrail leading up to a round-arched doorway at the eastern end, which has a six-fielded panel door and a semi-circular fanlight with intact glazing bars. The ground floor has 20th century shop windows.
