Description
5 and 6 Rose Hill are a pair of semi-detached villas built in the mid-19th century, designed in the Tudor-Gothic style, similar to the nearby properties at numbers 3 and 4. The villas are constructed of brick with rendering and stand two storeys tall, featuring an attic and a basement. Each villa has two windows and a tiled roof with a parapet. There are two groups of six brick octagonal chimney stacks on low brick plinths.
The window bay closest to the center of the building projects forward through the entire height of the house, topped by a steeply pitched gable that includes one attic window. A stringcourse runs above the attic, rising parallel to the top of the gable. The lower storeys have rendered transomed and mullioned windows with architraves, and there is a bay window on the ground floor with a decorated parapet above it. Beyond the gabled bays, there is one outer window bay that extends over two storeys, featuring a Tudor arched window above and a Tudor arched doorway below.
Numbers 3 to 8 and 18 to 24 Rose Hill are recognized as a group.
