Description
The Granary with attached chimney stack is a steam-powered corn mill, now converted into flats, likely built around 1830 and altered since. It features white-painted brick and a slate roof, with a rectangular plan and wide lean-tos at each end. The chimney stack is located at the rear on the left side. The building has three and a half storeys and three bays, with three tall segmental-headed windows on each floor, which have been replaced with casements that include horizontal glazing bars. In the left gable, there is a wide square-headed attic window. The lean-to on the left, which was originally the engine house, is now a garage with inserted garage doors and a domestic door. The right lean-to, previously the office, has a segmental-headed doorway and two segmental-headed windows. Although the interior has been altered, it still retains large oak ceiling beams. The chimney stack, attached to the left rear corner of the former engine house, is square in section, slightly tapered, and features a cornice with a moulded band below it. This building is part of a group with the associated Mill House located approximately 10 metres to the north.
