Description
St Catherine's Barn, located approximately 15 metres to the south-southeast of Picards Manor, is a barn and stable that has been converted into part of a library. It dates from the late 18th century and 19th century. The structure is built from sandstone blocks with brick dressings and features a plain tiled half-hipped roof. On the first floor, there are two loft doors, and below them, two cambered head leaded windows along with an additional door. There is also another door on the left-hand return front. Inside, one end of the barn has been transformed into a library, while the rest retains its original barn features, including an unusual roof construction with queen posts rising to a collar tie, supported by struts from the posts into the walls. The barn is included for its group value.
