Description

Send Grove is a house dating from the late 18th century, with early 19th-century extensions at both ends, and it was restored in the 20th century. The main house is finished in colourwashed stucco, while the extensions are made of colourwashed brick and covered with pantiled roofs. The main house features hipped slate roofs.

The structure is rectangular with end pavilions at the rear and projecting wings at the front, with the original entrance now located at the rear. The original entrance front is two storeys high, featuring a plat band above the tall ground floor. The outer angle bays rise through both floors and have glazing bar sash windows, with three windows in each angle bay and one square window at the centre of the first floor. The ground floor windows are 12-pane and have wooden hoods above them. The central door consists of six fielded panels set in an arched, rusticated surround, topped with a traceried fanlight. There are large ridge stacks on either side of the centre and additional stacks at the rear right.

At either end, there are single-storey, hip-roofed pavilions, each with three 15-pane glazing bar sash windows. The new entrance front is two storeys high with an attic parapet that partially obscures the roof. It features glazing bar sash windows, with seven windows on the first and attic floors, and four 12-pane windows on the ground floor. The central entrance has six-panel doors behind early 19th-century trellis work and a tent roof verandah with a triple arched facade. The ends have projecting double-pitched, hipped roof wings that form a U shape, with panelled doors under fanlights.
