Description
The Former National School Society School, located at No 1A Hook Road in Epsom, was built between 1837 and 1840. It is an early example of a National School Society School. The building is constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressings and features a pitched slate roof with coped gable ends supported by kneelers. It has an L-shaped plan and is a single storey in height.
The south wing includes a triple lancet window with glazing bars and plain chamfered surrounds. The east wing features a single lancet window flanked by oblong lights, topped with a coped gable on kneelers. There is also a one-storey extension to the east, which has a hipped roof and an oblong window. On the west side, the building has a buttress and a porch.
