Description

This pair of gate piers, located approximately 20 metres to the south-west of No 42A on Bridge Street in Walton-on-Thames, was likely built around 1835 by Sir Charles Barry for the 5th Lord Tankerville. The piers are constructed of ashlar and feature square-section, rusticated designs. Each pier has a plinth, an arched niche with a ledge, imposts, and voussoirs that align with the coursing. They also have a cornice and a quadrant-moulded capstone. The original house, known as Mount Felix, has been destroyed by fire, but the nearby clock tower, stable block, and another set of gate piers are still standing and are also listed.
