Description
This description covers a range of two barns located approximately 20 meters southeast of Ham Court. The eastern barn, which is on the right, dates from the late 18th to early 19th century and is constructed from coursed limestone rubble. It features a 20th-century corrugated asbestos roof that is half-hipped at the right end. This barn consists of five bays and includes vent slits and 20th-century sliding doors for the central cart entry. The roof is supported by a triple butt purlin structure with tie-beam and high collar trusses, which have struts connecting to the principals.
The western barn, located on the left, was built in the mid to late 19th century and has a loft above the vehicle bays at the left end. It is also made of coursed limestone rubble but has a plain tile roof. This barn has approximately four bays and features off-centre sliding cart doors. The left section includes three sliding vehicle doors and two loft doors, each topped with small gables. There is an additional lower bay with a chimney at the extreme left end. Overall, this is a long and imposing range of barns, included for their group value.
