Description

Rose and Crown Cottage, formerly an inn, dates from around 1700 and has been altered and modernized. It is constructed of rubble with a Cotswold stone roof, and has a roughly L-shaped plan. The west front has a taller bay to the left, featuring 20th-century mullion windows, and a lower bay to the right with a glazed door. The east front has a large buttress projecting to the left and containing a single-light window in a molded surround above. A 20th-century door is on the right-hand side. To the left of the door is a small, chamfered opening with heraldic carving and the date 1660, above a gabled dormer. A 20th-century single-storey wing extends to the east. The apex of the south gable features a sundial dated 1697. The south room on the ground floor contains a corner fireplace.
