Description

Grange Cottage is a house located on Bampton High Street. The rear wing dates back to the 17th century and has been altered, while the front wing was added or rebuilt around 1800. The building is constructed from coursed rubble limestone and features a stone slate roof with flanking brick chimneys, one of which was rebuilt in the 20th century. The cottage has an L-plan layout and stands two storeys tall with three bays. It includes boxed sash windows, with four-pane windows flanking a three-pane window, all having restored lintels. The central door consists of six flush panels within a wooden frame. A porch with a tented lead roof is supported by decorative wooden lattice and rests on rebuilt rubble dwarf walls. The interior of the rear wing retains a heavy spine beam and stop-chamfered joists, reflecting its historical character.
