Description

Ampney Lodge is a house from the early 19th century that has been altered over time. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a slate roof, with flanking external chimneys made of ashlar and concrete, topped with cornice caps. The building has two storeys and five bays, topped by a coped parapet with a string course below.

On the first floor, there are 20th-century boxed three-pane sash windows that sit beneath original flat stone arches. The ground floor has been modified and includes two large tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, which may date back to the early or mid-19th century but have 20th-century concrete lintels. There are remnants of the original five-bay arrangement. The central entrance features a half-glazed door with a rectangular fanlight, panelled reveals, and a wooden doorcase. This doorcase is adorned with moulded strip pilasters and a flat cornice hood supported by scroll brackets.

At the rear, there are later extensions. Inside, the house retains a contemporary staircase with stick balusters and a wreathed handrail, along with a fireplace in the right bay that has a segmental stone arch.
