Description
Hacker's House is a house that likely dates from the mid-17th century, with later additions and significant extensions made in the early 20th century. The building is constructed from regularly coursed limestone rubble and features a stone slate roof with coped verges. The original house has an L-shaped plan, with a short gabled range at the rear on the right and a parallel gabled range in the angle between. There are extensive early 20th-century additions to the right side of the house.
The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has a three-window front. The windows are early 20th-century leaded and latticed cross casements set in 18th-century openings, which have projecting keystones above the lintels. There is a gabled dormer in the centre of the roof slope. The house features integral end stacks, with the left stack rebuilt in 19th-century yellow brick and the right stack made of 20th-century stone.
The interior was not accessible during the last survey in August 1987, but it was noted to have panelled window shutters on the ground floor and is likely to contain other interesting features.
