Description

This is a late 18th-century house, originally known as Home Lodge, situated within Blenheim Park. The building is constructed from limestone ashlar with coursed limestone rubble, and has gabled stone slate roofs, with stone ashlar ridge and end stacks. It follows a three-unit plan with a three-window range across three storeys. A gabled hood shelters the central six-panelled door, which has a fanlight above, and is flanked by three-storey bay windows. The ground floor has six-pane sash windows, while the second floor has three-pane sashes. Raised storey bands and a parapet top the facade. Two-storey, two-window ranges are situated on either side of the main range, also featuring eight-pane sashes and a raised band beneath the parapet. A lower two-storey service block to the right includes a semi-circular arched doorway, two eight-pane sashes, and a raised band below the parapet. A later 19th-century addition projects from the rear. The interior remains unexamined but is likely of interest. A small portion of the house falls within the civil parish of Woodstock.
