Description
These are two houses located on Park Lane, built in the early to mid-18th century. They are constructed of rubble limestone with a gabled roof covered in stone slates, and have brick ridge stacks. The houses are arranged with a four-unit plan, and have a symmetrical appearance with a four-window facade. A central carriage way runs between the properties, now mostly boarded.
Number 10, on the left, features wrought-iron brackets supporting a flat stone hood over an 18th-century six-panelled door with two glazed panels. Number 8, to the right, has a flat stone arch over a 19th-century six-panelled door. A mid-19th century rendered bay window has been added to the right side of Number 8, with windows featuring glazing bars and timber lintels. Late 19th-century two and three-light casements are also present. Gabled roof dormers are visible. A rear outshut extends from the building.
The interior of Number 8 contains an 18th-century door and a panelled surround to a quarter-turn staircase, a segmental-arched fireplace, plain beams, and a butt-purlin roof within the outshut. The interior of Number 10 has not been inspected but is likely to hold further historical interest.
