Description
The former font, located approximately 70 meters east-southeast of Kiddington Hall, is now a garden ornament. It likely dates from the 14th or 15th century and is made of limestone. The font has an octagonal plan, although only two sides remain as of the last survey in April 1987. It features blind traceried panels on its sides and is set on a stepped octagonal stone base. Thomas Wharton, a former rector of Kiddington, mentioned the font in his work "Specimen of a History of Oxfordshire" published in 1783, noting that it originated from the "Kings Chapell" in Islip around 1780. Currently, it is situated in Kiddington Park, which is listed in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England's Register of Parks and Gardens at grade II.
