Description
The dovecote, located approximately 74 meters east-southeast of Rousham House, dates back to the 17th century. It is constructed from squared and coursed limestone and features a conical stone slate roof with a circular plan. The structure has a stone lintel above a 20th-century door and hipped dormers with leaded lights. A glover with a ball finial tops the roof. Inside, the dovecote contains stone nestings and retains a potence with a ladder. This building is part of the landscape gardens designed by William Kent between 1733 and 1740. Rousham Park is recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade I.
