Description
No. 7 Park Street is a house that dates from the late 17th century but was rebuilt and refronted in the early 19th century. The rear is constructed of limestone rubble, while the gable ends are made of brick, and the front features ashlar stone. It has a gabled roof covered with Welsh slate and brick stacks at the ends. The house has a double-depth plan and stands three storeys tall with a four-window range.
There is a stone lintel above a late 19th-century six-panelled door with a decorative overlight, located to the right of the centre. The entrance is framed by a porch in antis, supported by Tuscan columns. The front features stone lintels over plate-glass sash windows, a raised storey band, and a moulded cornice beneath the parapet.
At the rear, there are mid-19th-century gabled wings, with roughcast gabled wings on the left side made of limestone rubble, topped with gabled roofs of Welsh slate and concrete tiles. The interior has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest. The house was rebuilt shortly before 1828 for Sophia Brown and is depicted as a 17th-century house in an earlier 19th-century drawing by Buckler.
