Description
This building is an outbuilding that adjoins the Cob House to the north, along with an archway and wall to the north. It is a fragment of the great house known as Cob Hall, which has been demolished. The structure dates back to the 16th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed of squared rubble and features a Cotswold stone roof. The outbuilding represents a mid-19th century remodelling and is roughly three bays in size, with evidence of two window heads and a doorway. In the center, there is a wide segment-headed moulded archway, which has restored labels and headstops that resemble those from the 13th century, depicting a king and queen. The wall to the right may be an 18th-century restoration and stands about three meters high, returning from a north boundary wall that is approximately two meters high. This boundary wall is battered drystone and includes a soldier course, with a buttress aligned with the gateway to Island House.
