Description
The stables to Number 20, which include a cobbled yard, are a 17th-century building located on the southeast side of East St Helen Street. The structure is built from chequered brick and features a tile roof. It stands two storeys high and has a central pediment above a blocked circular linette. The facade includes a pattern of three windows, one window, and three more windows, all with flat brick arches and modern glazing.
There is a central flat carriage arch, with modern garages to the left on the ground floor. To the right, there are three flat-arched sash windows with glazing bars. A projecting section to the right has two windows, one of which is blocked, and a double-hung sash window with glazing bars. The building also has two doors; one features a blocked fanlight with a keystone and impost bands, while the other has a rectangular three-light fanlight. The cobbled yard adds to the character of the property.
The stables are part of a group that includes Nos. 2 to 60 (even).
