Description
Elm Hayes is a 17th-century house located on Appleford Main Road. It features a stone uncoursed rubble plinth and painted brick on the right side of the ground floor. The house has large timber framing, with some replacement timber on the left side of the ground floor and in the attic. The roof is thatched, with a central brick ridge stack. The building is single storey with an attic and has a three-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street. There is a 20th-century plank door leading to a 20th-century porch at the center, and the ground floor has 20th-century metal casements. A swept dormer is located to the right of center. At the rear, there are wood mullion windows on the ground floor with diagonally-leaded lights, and the end facing the road is brick. The interior has not been inspected.
