Description
Culham Bridge is a single span overbridge that carries Station Road over the Great Western Railway branch. It is constructed in red brick using Flemish bond and features a semi-elliptical arch. The bridge includes a string course on both external elevations and has a shallow projecting plinth on the internal parapet walls, which are partially rendered, along with copings made of dressed stone. The original sloping retaining walls at the abutments are intact on all four corners, located trackside. Stencilled black numbers (56 15) on a white background are present at the north-west and south-east ends of the parapets, indicating the distance from Paddington in miles and chains, a feature also found on the main Great Western Railway line. The parapets are slightly curved and end at square piers. While the bridge has been repointed, its brickwork remains largely original and homogenous, with only very minor repairs.
