Description

Sparsholt House is a farmhouse, now a house, dating from the mid to late 18th century, with extensions and remodelling in the early 19th century. A graffito in brick to the right of the front door is dated JB/AM/AB/1834. The original farmhouse, to the left, is constructed of glazed dark brick in a header bond with red brick dressings. The right-hand extension is of Flemish bond brick with flared headers. The roof is tiled, with brick stacks. The original house was extended to create a double-depth plan in 1834. The house has two storeys and a five-window front. A broken pediment, decorative fanlight, and engaged columns on architraves flank the central six-panelled front door. Horned sash windows are set within flat brick arches; these were inserted around 1960. Dentilled eaves run along the top of the building. The roof is gabled, with a stack at the left end, and double and triple flue ridge stacks to rear set-back gabled roofs. The interior remains uninspected.
