Description
Compton Beauchamp House, along with its gates, gatepiers, and walls located approximately 35 metres to the north, dates from around 1710. The structure is made of limestone ashlar. It features square main piers, each with a moulded plinth block and entablature topped with a griffin's head. The fine wrought-iron gates are complemented by a segmental wrought-iron arch that displays the cypher of Edward Richards. The walling curves elliptically around the piers, which are adorned with urns that have gadrooned bases and garlanded tops. The walling on either side of the piers is divided into four bays, each marked by square piers topped with pineapples. A continuous moulded plinth and coping run along the wall, with wrought-iron crossed spears filling the spaces between the piers.
