Description

Nos. 16 and 17 Church Lane are a pair of semi-detached cottages built around 1840 for the 2nd Earl of Radnor. They are designed in the Cotswold vernacular style, constructed from rubble stone with stone dressings. The cottages feature a gabled slate roof with rebuilt ridge brick stacks set on stone bases. The T-shaped plan consists of two storeys, with two and three-light mullioned windows that have diamond glazing. Notably, the two-light mullions on the first floor extend through the eaves line. One of the ground floor windows on the southwest side facing the road has been altered, replacing the diamond glazing with a three-light casement. These cottages are included for their group value.
