Description
Buscot Park's West Lodges and gate consist of a pair of lodges and a gate, with the westernmost lodge dating from around 1780. This lodge was remodeled in 1934-1935 by Geddes Hyslop, who also built a second lodge to the east, creating a symmetrical pair. The design reflects a 1930s adaptation of late Georgian neo-Classicism. The lodges are constructed of fine ashlar and feature dentil cornices and hipped slate roofs. They have L-shaped plans and rise two storeys, with relieving arches on three sides that contain heavily keyed sash windows. Above both roadside windows, there is a coronet belonging to the 2nd Baron Faringdon. The entrance is marked by two panelled stone gatepiers that have moulded cornices and shaped tops, complemented by well-crafted 1930s ironwork gates.
